CSAR Cohort Programs

Daniels Scholarship & Success Program

Purpose: To support students in graduating within 4 years by connecting them with regular access to resources, peers, leadership opportunities, and assistance with academics, community engagement, career preparedness, and job placement.

Benefits: Gatherings with cohort, connection to peer ambassadors, scholarship for up to 4 years.

Requirements: Maintain academic performance and sufficient progress to graduate within 4 years.

Heidi & Greg Miller Single Parent Cohort Scholarship

Purpose: To support single parents with children under 18, helping them focus on school and minimize childcare costs, while preparing them for post-graduation success.

Benefits: Tuition support (up to $25,000 per year as a refundable award), renewable each year if requirements are maintained, 1-on-1 support from Student Resource Navigator (SRN), and community building with cohort members.

Requirements: Maintain at least 9-credit enrollment each semester and a GPA of 2.70, attend cohort gatherings, and meet regularly with a financial counselor and career coach.

How to apply: Applications open in AcademicWorks on December 1, with a primary review deadline of February 28.


Larry H. & Gail Miller Enrichment Scholarship

Purpose: To support first-generation students in achieving their undergraduate degrees and preparing them for post-graduation with community service and leadership experience.

Eligibility: First-year students who are the first in their immediate family to attend any amount of college.

Benefits: Tuition and room & board support (full-ride for up to 10 semesters), book stipend, optional mentorship experience and associated stipend (for first-year students), community building with cohort members, and 1-on-1 support from Student Resource Navigator (SRN).

Requirements: Maintain 12-credit enrollment each semester and a GPA of 2.50, attend cohort gatherings, and meet with SRN 1-2 times per semester.

How to apply: Application opens in AcademicWorks in mid-November and closes in mid-January.


Operation Success Scholarship

Purpose: Operation Success is a leadership development program focused on project creation. Students (Success Fellows) will identify a community, national, or global disparity and create a project, organization, or business to address it. Fellows will receive mentorship and insight from community experts and leaders, and present their projects to stakeholders at the end of the year.

Benefits: In addition to leadership development, entrepreneurial skills, 1:1 personalized mentorship, and connections to community experts and leaders, students in the cohort will receive a scholarship of $3,000 for the academic year.

Requirements: Sophomore status (at least), good academic standing, demonstrated passion for addressing disparities, and ability to commit to program requirements (1 two-hour skill-building session per month, 2 one-on-one check-ins per month, and 10 hours per week working on the project).

Utah Opportunity Scholarship

Purpose: The Utah Opportunity Scholars Program supports first-generation college students who demonstrate financial need. The program aims to help students achieve academic and personal success through holistic support services within a cohort-based model.

Benefits: Financial support ($8,000 per year for 4 years), academic coaching & workshops, 1-on-1 check-ins with Student Resource Navigator (SRN), community-building events, career guidance, and leadership development.

Requirements: Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 (term & cumulative), attend 2 cohort meetings, 1 social, and 1 academic workshop per month each semester, and meet with SRN once per month.

How to apply: Application opens in AcademicWorks in mid-November and closes in mid-January. Applicants must include a current resume, 3 letters of recommendation, and a response to the application prompt.
